Wrongfully Terminated Employee Gets $80,000.00 Thanks to Mesriani Law Group

Mesriani Law Group recently helped an African-American woman who was wrongfully terminated from her position due to her race recover $80,000.00 from her former employer, a Confidential Employer.

Mesriani Law Group’s client, Ms. McFarland, left her employer of three years to accept a position with a new employer. From her first day, Ms. McFarland received excellent reviews for her work and was generating regular sales for the company. However, despite this performance, the company terminated her after being dissatisfied with her physical appearance in a training video. Ms. McFarland was pregnant at the time the video was shot.

Faced with this unlawful termination, Ms. McFarland sought help from Mesriani Law Group and its Employment Division. The Employment Division investigated the matter and discovered evidence of a pattern and practice from the company of terminating African American employees while retaining less capable Caucasian employees. They also uncovered evidence indicating that the company’s feeling that Ms. McFarland’s pregnancy would alter her physical appearance and affect her performance factored into the termination decision as well.

Armed with this information, Mesriani Law Group aggressively pursued the claim on Ms. McFarland’s behalf. As a result of their efforts, the real estate company and its insurer agreed to a settlement in the amount of $80,000.00.
