Maria Perez was arrested on Sunday for a hit-and-run that killed a 50-year old man in downtown Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The incident happened on May 7th<\/sup> when Perez hit and killed Byern Smith while he was walking along East 7th<\/sup> Street.<\/p>\n

Surveillance video showed Perez pulled over, exited the vehicle, and then immediately drove off. Police officials released the video the week after, announcing a $50,000 reward.<\/p>\n

An LAPD officer saw Perez\u2019s white Scion xB, which matched the description of the suspect vehicle, along 7th<\/sup> Street in downtown L.A. and arrested her on Sunday evening. Perez is booked for felony hit-and-run, along with two felony warrants and three misdemeanor warrants.<\/p>\n

According to the LAPD, her bail was set at $0, per L.A. County Emergency COVID-19 Directive.<\/p>\n

Perez is scheduled to appear in court in August for her hit-and-run felony.<\/p>\n
