Juan Barajas, from Bloomington, CA, died early Sunday morning after an incident near the Theme Building at LAX. Barajas was 39.

Barajas was working at a construction site when an “equipment collapsed”, according to Los Angeles International Airport officials. Construction was ongoing at the Automated People Mover project when the collapse happened.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the call just before 6am along World Way. LAFD and the coroner’s officed confirmed the worker died on the scene.

LAX officials stopped construction for two days while the incident was under investigation. The Automated People Mover project is set to be completed in 2023.
