The moment of impact was caught in a surveillance video showing a tremendous fireball-like eruption of the cars that collided. This happened on Sunday evening around 8:05 p.m. on Corbin Avenue, north of Saticoy Street Reseda.

Los Angeles Police and Fire Department arrived on the scene assessing the damages and assisting the victims. A total of nine vehicles were damaged, including the parked cars on the side of the street. Five people were injured, three were rushed to the hospital for injuries, and one was killed at the scene.

Based on the surveillance video and witnesses, two cars were racing that lost control causing the crash and sending innocent drivers spinning into other parked vehicles and a utility pole instantly sparking off the blaze. Some cars were left completely in a total wreck and beyond recognition.

A later investigation confirmed that a Mini Cooper and a BMW M3 were speeding north on Corbin Avenue when the Mini Cooper crashed into a KIA Optima that turned right from Saticoy to Corbin. The collision caused the KIA to be pushed to the opposing lanes, hitting a Volkswagen Golf that was heading south on Corbin while the BMW swerved into opposing lanes and crashed into a Chevy Silverado, uncontrollably colliding with the parked vehicles. The impact of the collision resulted in the BMW blazing up immediately killing the driver.

An arrest hasn’t been made and further information on the killed driver, other than being described as a 28-year-old man is still under investigation.
