Los Angeles County Fire Department units were dispatched on Tuesday afternoon at about 4:20 p.m. in Rancho Palos Verdes due to a crane that tipped over and landed on the roof, causing a small section to cave in.
The crane was at the residence to install metal columns for a solar field in the backyard and the homeowners were inside the house when it fell onto the roof, luckily the homeowners were not injured, as stated by public information officer Henry Narvaez.
The cause why the crane fell on the roof was not immediately clear. Cal/OSHA investigators were called to the scene since the accident happened during a construction job. Firefighters were standing by and would begin removing the crane as soon as the investigation is completed.
